The premise is easy enough – bring in 10 items you don’t want and get ten back. We shopped for two hours under a disco ball while a KUT’s Laurie Gallardo provided music. Ms. Austin Eavesdropper really knows how to throw a party.
The madness was mostly contained inside the Beauty Bar, but there were outdoor racks of accessories and jackets as well. A group of men stood around the lone table for men’s clothing, cracking jokes about each other’s girlfriends and donated clothes.
“I woke up this morning and some of my clothes were gone. Here they are!”
Inside women circled the racks over and over. Each time you completed a cycle, more clothes were put on the racks you just looked at. It was a dizzying rush to grab the best finds.
For the most part, everyone was friendly… except this one pair of women who stole a dress from my friends right out of the hand of another woman who was trying to play nice.
“Oh you would look adorable in this dress!” she said handing it to her. As she stretched out her arm to give it to her, another hand came through the rack from the other side and it was pulled into the clothing abyss. We could make out the women on the other side, giggling. I think we were more confused than offended.
“That’s not even your size!” the woman yelled. “Ug. I’m going to blog about this.”
(Update: The super sweet woman who gave my friend the dress was Adored Austin. You can read her funny account here.)

Thankfully there was no drama with this dress. I saw someone size it up, discuss with friends and put it back.

This one woman at the swap did NOT want me to have this dress! She would take it from the rack, examine it, put it back, see me heading for it, pick it back up, move to another rack, put it back, see me heading for it, pick it up... Thankfully a friend snagged it for me when she wasn't looking!

I opted out of the Blossom hat.

Hi!
Throw those shoes into ziplock freezer bags. Put them in the freezer over night. The cold will kill any smelly bacteria.
Another great option is to dilute vinegar and spray inside of the shoe. Leave out in the sunshine to dry. The sunshine’s UV will rid of any bacteria that the vinegar did not.

This is hilarious! That woman (the nice one!) was me! I had a wonderful time, though. That other dress stealing lady? Well, I got a good look at her face and I’m not above giving her the stink eye if I ever see her again! :0)
Ahhh, I’m just now seeing this post. I love it, Anna.
You done good, girl. LOL…the Blossom hat, I had a giggle at that one, too.
Now take some pics of you workin’ your fine self! I can’t wait to see the geometric red and white one in action.
Doing that tonight because I want to wear the shoes in the am! Thanks!
